Serum separator tubes (tiger top) can be substituted for red top tubes in some instances but should be avoided for certain endocrinology and clinical pathology tests. Please centrifuge the serum separator tubes after a clot forms, transfer the supernatant to another tube and label the new tube with owner, animal ID, and as SERUM.
